3D Skull Warping from 2D X-Ray Lateral and PA Images

Methods Normally the 3D skull data from individual patients can be obtained from CT scanner. However, the overhead expenses and the maintenance costs of a CT machine have deterred many dentists and orthodontists from possessing the machine, so only a few orthodontists use the CT for diagnosis and treatment comparing to the x-ray images that are standard procedures for orthodontic measurements. In order to provide the clinicians the overall information about the patient’s skull in three dimension, therefore, this paper proposes the techniques that create the 3D warping skull from a lateral x-ray image and the corresponding frontal image known as posterior anterior views (PA view) and cephalometric lines on both lateral and frontal x-ray images.
